When you are new and inexperienced at shooting, the first things you need to work on before shooting real ammunition are your grip, stance, sight management, and trigger control. It is hard to improve all of these important shooting skills at the same time, especially when you are at a live firing range around all other shooters.
Patrick Firearms realizes that many gun owners are not wanting to recreationally shoot, they just want to be able to shoot effectively in a personal protection event. Learning to shoot fast and accurately is CRITICALLY IMPORTANT in life-threatening situations.
The hi-tech lasers, motion sensors, and computerized analysis software that Patrick Firearms uses are proven technologies that allow the instructor to evaluate each shot when shooting real time and provide feedback to improve your skills. Your performance is also scored and archived, so you get a detailed report on your performance.
The training is done both by dry-firing (shooting with no recoil) and by using CO2 recoil (that gives the feel of really shooting).
The dry-firing is done by using REAL ACTUAL GUNS. You get the feel of the weight, sight view, and trigger management of using a real semi-automatic pistol or revolver. And, if you own a gun, most likely you can use your handgun for the dry-fire training. Call Patrick Firearms for details.
The recoil firing is done by using CO2 compressed air training guns (that are real guns too) that give the feel of shooting a gun with real ammunition, but in a safe and controlled environment. Having recoil shooting adds an additional element when working on improving your shooting skills.
In a standard class at Patrick Firearms, you will shoot over 150 shots. If you did this at a live fire range, this would be very expensive -- and you still wouldn't be able to get the understanding of what you need to do to improve your shooting.
So does this training concept really work? Yes it does. You will see improvement in your shooting skills immediately because the sensors and analysis software coupled with the experience and knowledge of the instructor can help you improve your stance, grip, sight management and trigger control.
Also as a new shooter -- SAFETY IS VERY IMPORTANT. There are proper ways to handle, load , carry and store a handgun. At Patrick Firearms we teach these very important fundamentals during the classroom instruction portion of the class.
Patrick Firearms offers small class size, and hands-on instruction. This is very different than many other training classes where there are large class sizes. With a small class (1 to 2 people maximum) Patrick Firearms gives the personal feedback and instruction to make you more proficient in handling, loading, and firing your handgun.
And -- if you haven't bought a gun yet, Patrick Firearms can help consult with you on what might be the best handgun for your personal protection based on your needs, budget, and handling capabilities.
Once you have selected your handgun and successfully attended the Safety and Shooting Skills class, the Patrick Firearms instructor can provide additional personal instruction at a local indoor firing range so you can apply the skills and training you learned in a live-fire environment.
